Greg died aboard his ship USS Roosevelt nobody knows the cause of his death as yet just that a valve
closed of with no warning,Greg was a healthy boy always worked out in the gym and ran before going
to work in the mornings if he wasnt out at sea,he was one of the sweetest most loveing guys you
could wish to know, greg is my sisters son his mum is scottish and his dad is Filipino, he was born
in Newport RI,he went to the philippines when he was 1 year old old and lived there for 11 years
after wich he returned to Newport to complete high school,after he graduated he enlisted in 1996 in
the US army reserves,his primary duty was serving as a Combat Medic and Surgical Technician
following a year of active duty he returned to Newport and was attached to 455th field hospital unit
out of providence RI. he received an honorable discharge at the end of 1998. in April 1999 a new
journey began, Greg re-enlisted and joined the Unite States Navy ,acquiring an electronics
technician rateing on submarines.Upon completion of training he reported aboard USS MAINE (SSBN 742
(B) After promotion to 3rd Class petty officer,he assumed the role of leading petty officer for
navigation division.His leadership was insrumental in the division receiving an overall grade of
excellence dureing an annual inspection that directly contributed to the receipt of the battle
"E"for SUBMARINE GROUP 10 IN 2002 Greg completed four strategic deterrent deployments and was
selected for the Seaman to Admiral Commissioning Program in 2002,Greg reported to the Naval Science
Institute (NSI) in Newport,RI in September 2002.Following completion of NSI in December, he
relocated to Jacksonville,FL, Greg Graduated with honors from Jacksonville University on December
9th 2005, Earning a degree in Computer Science,and was Commissioned as an Ensign in the United
States Navy,in January 2006 ENS Greg Walsh Reyes reported to USS ROOsevelt (DDG 80) for duty as the
ships First Lieutenant .While on board he was an integral member of the ships crew for the two Fith
Fleet deployments and one Sixth Fleet deployment,including a Global War on Terrorism surge
deployment.Greg served his nation with Honor and Distinction for more than a decade.Greg Walsh Reyes
Achieved so much in his Years and We as a family are so Proud of him.he is missed so much by his mum
Sarah his Sister Eva his Brother Ray his Father Ubaldo and all his family and friends.

✿..LET US REMEMBER THEM...✿
✿ 'Please wear a poppy', the lady said
and held one forth, but I shook my head.
Then I stopped and watched as she offered them there,
And her face was old, and lined with care;
But beneath the scars the years had made
There remained a smile that refused to fade.✿
✿ A boy came wistling down the street,
Bouncing along, on care free feet
His smile was full of joy and fun,
'Lady', said he, 'May I have one?'
When she pinned it on, he turned to say,
'Why do we wear a poppy today?'✿
✿ The lady smiled in her wistful way,
and answered, 'This is Rememberance Day,
And the poppy there is the symbol for,
the gallant men who died in war,
and because they died you and I are free--
Thats why we wear a poppy, you see'.✿
✿ 'I had a boy about your size,
with golden hair and big blue eyes.
He loved to play and jump and shout,
free as a bird he would race about.
As the years went by, he learned and grew
and became a man--as you will, too.' ✿
✿ 'He was fine and strong, with a boyish smile,
but he'd seemed with us such a little while
When war broke out and he went away,
I still remember his face that day.
When he smiled at me and said'Good-bye,
I'll soon be back, mom, so please don't cry'.✿
✿ 'But the war went on and he had to stay,
and all I could do was wait and pray.
His letters told of the awful fight,
(I can see it in my dreams at night),
with the tanks and guns and cruel Barbed wire,
and the mines and bullets, the bombs and fire.'✿
✿'Till at last the war was won-
and thats why we wear a poppy son'.
The small boy turned as if to go,
Then said 'Thanks lady, I'm glad to know.
That sure did sound like an awful fight,
But your Son-- did he come back alright?'✿
✿ A tear rolled down each faded cheek;
she shook her head, but didn't speak.
I slunk away in a sort of shame,
and if you were me you'd have done the same;
For our thanks, in giving, is oft delayed,
though our freedome was bought-and thousands paid.✿
✿ And so when we see a poppy worn, let us reflect on the burden borne
By those who gave their very all
and asked to answer their country's call
That we at home in peace might live.
Then wear a poppy. Remember-- and give!✿
✿ Lest we forget......✿
